BedReady desktop app iconv1.1.0

BedReady for Desktop

The maker's workbench for the Snapmaker U1 — the full .3mf converter, Color Studio, print files, inventory, a queue and a cost calculator. Native, offline, nothing uploaded.

Free · macOS (Apple Silicon) · Windows · Linux · 100% offline — your files never leave your computer.

105 downloads and counting

Opening it: macOS is Apple-notarized — it opens cleanly. Windows isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a “Windows protected your PC” warning — click More info → Run anyway. On Linux, make the .AppImage executable, then run it.

Free and hosted on GitHub — please report anything odd there. Keep backups of files that matter to you.

Everything in one app

BedReady for Desktop bundles the tools you already use on the website with the workflow tools you'd otherwise juggle in spreadsheets — all local, all in one window.

The full converter

The same engine as the website — .3mf → U1, colors preserved, Full Spectrum for >4 colors, exact M600 band-swaps, spool-swap fixes, plus STL ⇄ 3MF — right on your desktop.

Color Studio

Plan and mix filament colors, build recipes, and preview how they'll actually print on the U1 before you load a spool.

Print files

Keep your U1-ready files organized in one place — convert, tag, and re-open them without digging through downloads.

Filament inventory

Track the spools you own so color planning and slot assignment match what's actually loaded.

Print queue

Line up what to print next and keep your maker workflow moving — no spreadsheet required.

Cost calculator

Estimate filament and print cost per model so you know what a print really costs before you start.

Your library, synced

Sign in and the designs you saved on bedready.io sync straight to the app — browse and download them on your desktop, no re-finding files.

Updates itself

The app checks on launch and updates in place, so you're always on the latest without re-downloading.

App or browser?

The website

Best for a quick, one-off conversion. Nothing to install — open /convert, drop a file, done.

The app

Best as your everyday workbench: the same conversion plus Color Studio, a file library, filament inventory, a print queue and cost — all offline in one place.

FAQ

Is BedReady for Desktop free?

Yes — and not a trial or a beta discount. Everything that runs on your own machine (converter, Color Studio, print files, inventory, queue, cost calculator) is free, with no license key and no time limit. Features that need BedReady's servers may be paid when they arrive; syncing your saved library is free today.

Does it work offline, and is my file uploaded?

It runs entirely on your machine — convert, preview and organize files with no internet and nothing uploaded. Your models never leave your computer.

Which platforms are supported?

macOS (Apple Silicon), Windows (x64) and Linux (x64). It's a native desktop app built for the maker workflow, not a browser tab.

Is it still in beta?

No — 1.0 is out. The public beta ended and the app now ships as a stable release, still free and still hosted on GitHub, where you can grab the latest build and report anything that looks off.

Is the macOS app safe to open — any Gatekeeper warnings?

None. The macOS app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any App Store app — just open the .dmg, drag Bed Ready to Applications, and launch. No right-click trick, no workarounds.

Does Windows warn me when I open it?

Yes — for now. The Windows build isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". It's safe: it's the same build hosted publicly on GitHub, and it runs entirely offline. Code-signing the Windows installer (to remove the warning) is on the roadmap.

How is it different from the website converter?

The website is perfect for a quick one-off conversion with nothing to install. The app is your workbench: the same conversion plus Color Studio, a print-file library, filament inventory, a queue and a cost calculator — all in one place, offline.

Can I get my saved designs from the website in the app?

Yes. Open "My BedReady library" in the app and connect your BedReady account — the designs you saved on bedready.io sync to the app, so you can browse and download them on your desktop. Nothing is uploaded; it only pulls your own saves.

Do I need a Snapmaker U1?

The converter and profiles are tuned for the Snapmaker U1, but the color tools, STL ⇄ 3MF and file management are useful for any multicolor FDM workflow.
